Our goal at Missing Pet Partnership is to develop professional (volunteer and for-profit) Missing Animal Response services by training and certifying pet detectives and search dogs that can assist pet owners as they search for a lost pet. Pet detective work is a media magnet so just because someone has appeared in the media, this does not mean his or her work is credible! Before you hire any pet detective, we suggest that you carefully check his or her references and read our Warning and How Long Does Scent Survive pages.
Missing Pet Partnership will only refer pet owners to resources that we are confident are reputable. We recommend the following MPP-trained lost pet resources:
Pet Detectives in the USA
Arizona
LAKE HAVASU CITY, AZ: Arizona Pet Detectives- Teri McClellan, (928) 453-5879 or (928) 486-0607, e-mail AZPetDetectives@aol.com. Teri is a certified MAR Technician who is training her two Bloodhounds in both MAR trailing and MAR cat detection work. She is available for consultations and physical searches for lost dogs and cats within a reasonable distance.
California - Northern
CROCKETT (Vallejo), CA: Donna Holsten: (510) 333-9321, www.findingpaws.com, email donna@findingpaws.com. Donna is a certified MAR Technician with almost three years experience in training search-and-rescue (SAR) dogs. She is available to search for both lost dogs and lost cats, and she has two certified search dogs (one certified cat detection dog and one certified scent discrimination trailing dog). Her services include area searches, scent trailing, flyer distribution, sign posting, shelter checks and phone consultations. She will work cases in the SF Bay Area and other areas of Northern California when available.

California - Southern
LOS ANGELES, CA- Landa Coldiron- (818) 442-2952, www.lostpetdetection.com. Landa is a certified MAR Technician who has successfully recovered both lost dogs and lost cats. Her Bloodhound Ellie Mae is certified by MAR in both cat detection and MAR trailing work. Landa and her search dogs have had many finds, have uncovered witnesses, located physical evidence, and have had lost pets returned up to two weeks after they went missing. She also offers location checks to determine the validity of a sighting and confirm whether a lost dog has been in a particular area. Landa also offers lost cat services by trailing the scent of cats displaced into unfamiliar territories, physical searches using an amplified listening device and humane traps, poster placement services, and shelter check services.
SAN DIEGO, CA: Pet Search and Rescue- (800) 925-2410, www.petsearchandrescue.com, email aberns@hotmail.com. Annalisa Berns is a certified MAR Technician. She has a successful track record finding missing pets with her search dog Lilly. Lilly is certified as a Specific Scent search dog and is trained to find missing cats, dogs and other animals. Pet Search and Rescue offers a variety of services, including: Trap & Reunite, area searches, flyer distribution, sign posting, shelter checks and phone consultations. Annalisa Berns is willing to travel to work cases.
Connecticut
BOZRAH, CT: Marjorie Lineweber, (860) 460-2447, e-mail setterboys@aol.com. Marjorie, a certified MAR Technician, is a former veterinary technician who now co-owns a dog training center. Her search dog is certified through Missing Pet Partnership as a cat detection dog, and he is also in training to search for lost dogs. Marjorie's lost pet services include phone and e-mail consultations, humane traps, area searches for lost dogs and cats, and poster placements. She is willing to respond on searches within a 100-mile radius of Bozrah (which is located 30 miles southeast of Hartford, CT).
Florida
LUTZ (Tampa), FL: Angelica Steinker, (813) 787-0034, www.courteouscanine.com, email angelica@courteouscanine.com. Angelica is a certified MAR Technician and dog trainer. Although she does not work a MAR search dog at this time, Angelica is willing to help pet owner/guardians search for lost pets in her community. Idaho

Pam is a certified MAR Technician who is available for searches within a two-hour drive of Boise, including cities on the Idaho/Oregon border. Her services include placing effective LOST posters and signs, setting up humane traps and sound monitors, distributing flyers, checking shelters and rescue groups, and other services as needed.
MERIDIAN, ID (serving Ada County): Mark Jorgensen (208) 830-3580, www.petrackers.com. Mark is a certified MAR Technician who offers web-based tools with online sighting updates to aid in lost pet recovery, consulting, and shelter checks.
Maryland
HAMPSTEAD (Baltimore), MD: Laura Totis, (410) 239-4746, www.ljttraining.com, e-mail vtotis@carr.org. Laura is a certified MAR Technician and experienced search-and-rescue dog handler/trainer. Since 2004, Laura has successfully used her search dogs to track lost pets (prior to that she worked her search-and-rescue dogs on lost person investigations). Her lost pet services include: assistance/consultations via email or phone; multiple search dogs trained for both scent discrimination trailing and air scent/area search; cat and small animal location; animal remains detection; and magnet dog with snappy snares to capture panicked, loose dogs. Laura also offers a program to train MAR search dogs for pet detection work (a program recommended by MPP). She is willing to travel to work lost pet investigations contingent on her availability.
Massachusetts
HOLDEN, MA: Volunteer Lost Pet First Responder (NO SEARCH DOG): If available, Leona Pease is willing to help pet owners by loaning out humane traps and by providing lost pet consultations for those who have lost a pet in her community. SALEM, MA: Volunteer Lost Pet First Responder (NO SEARCH DOG): If available, Michele Perrine is willing to help pet owners with shelter checks, trap-and-reunite services, and consultations for pet owners located within a 25-mile radius of Salem, MA. STONEHAM, MA: Volunteer Lost Pet First Responder (NO SEARCH DOG): If available, Irene Foley is willing to help search for lost cats by offering trap-and-reunite services, physical searches, and consultations for cat owners located within a 5-mile radius of Stoneham, MA. Michigan
CLINTON TOWNSHIP (Detroit), MI: Lost Pet Search Solutions, LLC, (586) 703-1096, email Lori@LostPetRecovery.com, Certified MAR Technician with a search dog in training. Lost Pet Solutions offers immediate consultations by phone; trapping and surveillance equipment; contact information for shelters, vets, and rescue groups; and shelter checks. They serve the Detroit area (Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties) and will consider travel requests on a case-by-case basis.
GRAND JUNCTION (Kalamazoo), MI: Matt Elvin, (269) 539-1867, www.lostandmissingpets.com, email matt@tiptoptails.com. Matt is a certified MAR Technician. His search dog (not yet certified), Mandy, is a cat detection dog trained to find lost cats. Matt offers phone or e-mail consultations, humane trapping, shelter checks, and/or physical searches with his cat detection dog. He is willing to respond on searches within a 75-mile radius.
HASTINGS, MI: Forked River Missing Animal Response, Certified MAR Technician Tara Walldorff, (269) 948-4054, www.lostadog.com (click on Barry County). This MAR team services the greater Barry County region of Southwest Michigan and has a background in wilderness skills, tracking, search-and-rescue (for lost people), and training search-and-rescue dogs. They offer support and assistance in searching for any species (both domestic pets and livestock) utilizing a variety of search methods, including scent-tracking dogs and specialized equipment.
Missouri

Bonnie, a certified MAR Technician, provides lost pet services in Missouri and southern Illinois. Her search dog Murphy, an Australian shepherd, is trained to detect cats, dogs, and other small animals. Bonnie is available for phone consultations, lost pet poster design and placement, physical searches, humane trapping, and shelter checks. Although this team works mainly in the greater St. Louis metro area, they are often available for more distant travel within the U.S.A.
Montana

This team focuses on lost dogs and cats specifically but will assist with referrals for other types of pets.
New Jersey

Rob is knowledgeable in the behaviors of various snakes, turtles, tortoises, iguanas, lizards, and other reptiles. He is available for e-mail and phone consultations. Rob is also available for physical searches for missing reptiles within his immediate area.
New Mexico

Although she does not work a MAR search dog at this time, Renee is willing to help pet owners/guardians search for lost pets within a 70-mile radius of Las Cruces. LODI (Seneca Lake), NY: Volunteer Lost Pet First Responder (NO SEARCH DOG): If available, Janice Brunner is willing to help pet owners with shelter checks, trap-and-reunite services, and consultations for pet owners located within a 10-mile radius of Lodi, NY. North Carolina
LEICESTER (Asheville), NC: PAWSABILITIES, e-mail lostpaws@bellsouth.net. Millie Sharpe is a certified MAR Technician who offers lost pet services with her Bloodhound, Sophie. PAWSABILITIES offers phone consultations, searches, shelter checks, detection services, and trapping services in Western North Carolina.
**This team currently is not available for physical searches, but Millie is available for consultations.
Pennsylvania
CHESTER COUNTY, PA: Partnership for Humane Solutions Inc., www.partnershipforhumanesolutions.org, Nancy Painter, (610) 563-0884. Nancy is a certified MAR Technician who provides lost pet services (for lost dogs and cats) in Chester County through the nonprofit organization Partnership for Humane Solutions. Nancy is available for phone consultations, flyer distribution, shelter checks, and rescue group notifications. Services outside of Chester County are limited to phone consultations only.
Tennessee (Western)
MEMPHIS, TN- George Grider, LostCatFinders of Memphis, e-mail LostCatFinders@earthlink.net. George is a certified MAR technician specializing in finding missing cats. His cat detection dog is a gentle Australian shepherd mix who loves cats. Services (within a 50-mile radius of Memphis) include posting day-glow signs at key points in the neighborhood, distributing flyers to shops and homes, and setting humane trappings for cats that come out of hiding at night. George also offers phone consultations and conducts shelter checks.
Texas
AUSTIN, TX: Joe Reinsel, (512) 336-0881, www.lostadog.com, email joe@lostadog.com. Joe is a certified MAR Technician who manages a national lost dog website. He is available to travel within a 150-mile radius of Austin to help search for lost dogs and cats. His services include shelter checks, poster placement, trap-and-reunite, consultations, and physical searches. He is in the process of obtaining a MAR search dog that he will eventually use to conduct lost pet searches.
FRIENDSWOOD (Houston), TX: Tina Fimble, Lost 'N Founders, (281) 415-1866, www.lostnfounders.org, e-mail tfimble@yahoo.com. Tina is a certified MAR Technician. Her search dog is certified through Missing Pet Partnership as a cat detection dog. Tina offers phone or e-mail consultations, humane trapping, and/or physical searches with a cat detection dog. Due to time constraints, this team is primarily available to work lost cat cases south of Houston in the areas of Friendswood, Webster, Clear Lake, and surrounding areas.
Wyoming
CENTENNIAL (Laramie), WY: Cathy Orde, Cold Nose Investigations, (307) 761-1799, e-mail: ordiewy@aol.com. Cathy is a certified MAR Technician as well as a certified search-and-rescue and drug detection dog handler. She has over six years of experience in working search-and-rescue dogs (area search, human remains detection, drug detection, and trailing), including response to disasters. Cathy is available to assist with shelter checks, trap-and-reunite, phone and email consultations, and physical searches. Cathy's dog Zoe is dual purpose trained and is used to detect lost cats, trail (track) the scent of lost dogs, and search for various species like hamsters, reptiles, ferrets, etc. If they are available and are called out within two weeks of the pet's disappearance, Cathy and Zoe are willing to travel anywhere in the USA.

Ronda, a certified MAR Technician, provides lost pet services in southern Ontario, including the Greater Toronto area. Her search dog Jive, a Standard Poodle, is trained to detect cats. Ireland

With employees strategically located throughout the country, Happy Tails Detective agency conducts hand-on physical searches for lost dogs, cats, and other species using various techniques. Robert received his MAR Technician certification in 2007, two years after launching his successful agency. Happy Tails plans to incorporate MAR search dogs into their services.
