**SCAM ALERT** A potential scam recently popped up on Craig's List from someone using the title "We Search for Lost Pets" and "Scent Tracking for Lost Dogs or Cats" with a website set up through weebly.com. The web site claims to have dogs trained to find lost pets and instructs pet owners to make a $150.00 "donation" to schedule an appointment with a certified handler with a tracking dog. They insist that you must make a payment first and then email to schedule an appointment. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM! Only hire a pet detective with a search that that (a) you can speak to first and (b) who you can verify through references is properly trained and experienced! Before you hire any pet detective, we suggest that you carefully check his/her references (including those listed on this web site) and read our Warning and How Long Does Scent Survive pages. If someone claims affiliation (training, certification, etc.) with Missing Pet Partnership but they are not listed on this directory page, use caution. MPP has dropped our affiliation with a few MAR graduates who either generated complaints from pet owners and/or were not abiding by our Code of Ethics. Her Bloodhound Ellie Mae is certified by MAR in both cat detection and MAR trailing work. With limited availability Marge and Summit can provide area searches for lost cats and other small animals as well as humane traps. We also rent out equipment (humane cat traps, dog traps, florescent lost pet posters, listening devices, 2 million candle power spotlights, surveillance cameras, etc.) along with step-by-step instructions on how to recover a lost dog or cat.
