Missing
Pet Partnership offers a 8-week Missing Animal Response (MAR) webinar training
series. Led by MPP founder Kat Albrecht, this course is designed for rescue
group volunteers, shelter workers, animal industry professionals, and anyone
interested in offering lost pet recovery services in their community. It
includes training in the analysis of lost pet behaviors, instruction in how to
creatively capture skittish dogs and skittish cats, the use of search dogs to
find lost pets, lost pet forensics, search theory, and lost pet scenarios. Students
will learn about various rescue techniques plus how to offer lost pet recovery services
in their own community.
Our next MAR course is set to run from Monday July 22nd, 2013 through Monday September 16th, 2013. Class size is limited and classes will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. The webinar consists of a training manual (PDF files that MPP will e-mail to you), 8 weeks of training that includes 1 to 2 self-paced 2 to 3-hour webinars (plus time spent on Internet to view various training videos) that students will watch as their schedule permits during the week, homework assignments, discussion with experienced pet detectives on MPP’s national Yahoo e-group discussion list (this list is only available for MAR-trained pet detectives and MAR students in training), and a weekly live 2-hour Q&A session with lead trainer Kat Albrecht (and occasional special guests). The self-paced webinars can be watched at any time but the weekly live 2-hour Q&A sessions will be every Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. PST (9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.) and again at 5:00 p.m. PST (5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.). You won't need to attend both of these live Q&A sessions (9:00 am and 5:00 pm); instead you'll sign up for whichever of these two meeting times (morning or evening) works best for your schedule. Please note these live session times are Pacific Standard Time and you'll need to research the time zone conversion for your area.
